Volunteer week 2026: Green woodworking showcase
Volunteers are invited to a green woodworking showcase at Fulham Palace!
This year’s Volunteer Week takes place from 1 – 7 June 2026, and during this time Fulham Palace would like to celebrate the contributions of all our wonderful volunteers. As a thank you for your support, we are delighted to invite you to a Green woodworking showcase on Friday 5 June 2026 in the Fulham Palace garden.
This special event will be led by our team of green woodworking volunteers, who will demonstrate and share their craft using wood grown on site and recycled timber. You’ll have the opportunity to learn more about their creative work - from items produced for sale at the market barrow to practical features built for the garden - and the techniques involved in bringing these pieces to life. You are very welcome to drop in at any time between 10.30 and 15.00 to meet the team, chat, and see their work up close.
The woodworkers will also be running two bookable, hands-on sessions where you can try activities such as using a pole lathe and pyrography:
Session 1: 10.30 – 11.30
Session 2: 13.30 – 14.30
Spaces for these sessions are limited, so please book your free place.
To note for the bookable sessions: A H&S induction and gloves will be provided at the start of each session. Please wear sturdy footwear (no open-toe shoes, sandals, or Crocs) and dress appropriately for the weather. For sunny conditions, we recommend bringing a hat and sunscreen. In the event of rain, the hands-on sessions will take place inside the walled garden vinery.
