Volunteer trip: Chelsea Physic Garden
Join us for a complimentary guided tour of Chelsea Physic Garden!
Established in 1673, by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London, Chelsea Physic Garden is home to over 4,500 medicinal, edible and useful plants; it is London’s oldest botanical garden.
Since 1673, Chelsea Physic Garden has been evolving with the world around it. Originally established by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries, it was an outdoor classroom to train their apprentices. Today, as a four-acre green space in the heart of London, the Garden contributes to the city’s biodiversity and provides a place for people to connect with nature. Chelsea Physic Garden’s plant collection focuses on medicinal, herbal and useful plants, uniting people to plants that heal.
The core principles of discovery, learning and wellbeing are still realised today. Within the Garden visitors can find over 4500 species of edible, useful and medicinal plants that help to tell the story of humanity’s relationship with plants.
On this guided tour we will explore the history of the garden and the plants within it.
