Foreigners have always flocked to Soho - French, Italians, Germans, Dutch, Chinese and others have brought their culture, style and, sometimes, scandals to Soho.

To find out more, join Richard Watkins, Fulham Palace staff member and qualified City of Westminster History Guide, on a walk covering 350 years of immigration in this area, with a route through Soho’s streets and squares, to visit sites and find clues to the influence of the immigrant community on the Soho we know today. One iconic Bishop of London is central to this tale.

You will hear interesting stories, both personal and historic, as well as learn of larger-than-life characters, including a reckless “king”. Places of interest will include Soho Square, an atmospheric graveyard, an unexpectedly lovely period street and some of Soho’s iconic eating and drinking venues. Naturally, the walk will end in one of the latter.

Lasting 90-105 minutes, the walk will begin at Tottenham Court Road tube station and finish at the south end of Wardour Street.

Meeting point:  Tottenham Court Road, exit 1, on Oxford Street, opposite the Flying Horse pub

Tickets: £15 per person including booking fee.
